Mr. Snow says invoice was sent to Mr. Durant who checked a part (as above) as belonging to you: that he paid duty on this and forwarded the case to Wellesley. Mr. Durant settled his part of the bill, but your portion has never been paid. Mr. S. says there has never been any controversy over the matter, but he thinks it has merely been overlooked. I wrote him that as we did not know about the matter it would have to wait till you returned. Wrote same to Wellesley.

    Mrs. Lampert has replied to my 2nd letter and

says that she has been holding the specimens in order to obtain more of the large red crabs, of which she has only one; that she has all the rest and will fill the keg with other varieties and forward at once if we wish. Shall probably tell her to do so if there is no probability of her obtaining the large crabs soon. Shall consult Mr. Howell, however, before writing her.

    The walrus was finished today, - except final
