Dear Prof. Ward,

    Enclosed is a copy of Hume's

letter, which Mr. Howell returned uncopied. Mr. Lucas has written Prof. Allen about Bu dorcas, but has not heard from him. L. F. Ward thinks it best to leave the matter ^of the collections^ to you as there seems to be sufficient time.

    Enclosed you will also find a statement

showing how the cash actually received received per month corresponds with the estimates made. This summary includes only the amounts hand- ed in at the Office. There has been received be- sides this about $200. in small amounts which were not handed in. L. F. W. thinks it will be best to ask Scott to pay now a part of his account - perhaps the cost of labor expended on the specimens - and to give his note for the balance due in 6, 9, or 12 months.
