feeling quite well and has worked four days this week. His eyes are nearly well and would have been entirely so some time ago had he taken proper care of them. He has earned a little over $150. - but his account is over- draws nearly $60. This has been done during the past two month in which he has done very little work and has been almost constant- ly under the Doctor's care. I have intended to pay for nothing except medicine, but in a few cases have failed to do this: - for instance, - last Saturday I gave him $5. to pay the druggist, whose bill was very nearly that amount. Today I inquired at the drugstore about the bill and found that no payment had been made, but that Charley had since gotten cigars, soda water, a perfumery case and other fancy articles, bringing the bill up to $9. I asked Charley about it and he acknowledged that he had paid the $5.- for something else. He has generally paid his own bills, and certainly he ought to be able to be trusted with money, but sometimes it hardly seems that he is, for this is not the only time that he has done this. He has had very little spending money of late, it did not seem,
