complete series. I know that your censure for omitting much important news is deserved, but you mention several things about which I have written you once and some twice or more. This I know, as these were noted down to be written about, and have been marked off, and some noted as having been repeated. One letter at least (sent early in April via England) must has miscarried. That letter was an extra one, -not the regular weekly letter- and told all about accounts, about Monterey and several other matters. It was sent either the 11th or 12th of April. The Monterey people have not yet written. Have had no word from Dr. Lathrop, altho' I have written him twice. The letters have evidently reached </u some one >as they do not return, Charley secured the hog skeleton and it has been macerating four months. The Hamburg boxes came through Custom House without the least trouble. L.F. Ward comes up once each week looks about for an hour or so, asks what the news is and then goes back again.
