give for mammals and larger birds and told him skins of small birds - size of sparrow to dove would be 75¢ to $1.50 according to size, rarity and condition; that skeletons would be worth a little less; - also that mammal skins are supposed to have skull and leg bones; that where skin and skeleton of same animal are sent, it will lower value of skin about 50%. We also requested him to let us know at once how many species on the list he could furnish. He praises his skins nearly as highly as Hume does. A card from Dr. Newberry announced for "Section of Biology" in N. Y. Acad. of Science, Mar. 28 "Notes on the Fauna and Flora of the Gorilla region, Equatorial West Africa" by H. von K.

The six packages from San Francisco reached New York on the 25th and are now on the way to Rochester. Charges were $62.50 and have been paid. The cocoon was received a few days ago, and was immediately sent to Corning Jr., with a letter, but we have heard nothing from him as yet.
