Hugo Von Koppenfels wrote (Dec 20) from Glass on the Gaboon, that he had sent a case of skins and skeletons in care of Fletcher + Co., and the following day a letter came from Fletcher saying that the steamer which was bringing the case had collided with another steamer and was a total loss. Koppenfels sent skin and skeleton of young male Gorilla, and brain in alcohol, for £25, 2 skulls of adult Gorilla - male and female - £6 for both, 2 skeletons of Sus penicillatus - young - male and female, and one male skull, - the lot £4., Cephalophus Maxwelli, adult male - skin and skeleton £4., Manis macrura, adult female unpriced, and a Duck, a heron and King fisher, also unpriced. We have written him (per Mr. Staebner) offering £50 each for 2 adult male Gorillas, skin and skeleeton, and £35. each for 2 females, skin and skeleton - no young ones wanted. We also sent him a list of African skins and skeletons needed for M. C. Z. - noted priced which we would
