Grinnell Iowa Aug 6 1883 Memorandum of agreement drawn up by Prof. Ward, between Prof. HWParker of this city and ^Prof^ H. A. Ward of Rochester, N. Y.
Prof Parker has received from Mr ward a
collection of Natural History specimens contained in 31 boxes, - the same being the entire portion of the collection lately displayed in the "Arsenal" building, Central Park New York which was obtained from the American Museum together with certain other specimens added thereto from Rochester including a series of Inverte- brates. For the former part of this collection (that is the part from the American Museum) it has long been agreed that Prof. Parker pay Mr Ward the sum of $3000. under the following ambitions well understood:
1st. Prof Parker shall try earnestly and persistently
to obtain by subscription and through other sources the full sum needed to pay Mr Ward.
2nd. As fast as any sum of $25. or over are
received by Prof Parker he shall pay them to Prof Ward.
3rd. The aggregate of these payments by Prof.
Parker to Mr Ward shall in no year, dating from Oct. 1st 1883 be less than the sum of $500.
4th. After Oct 1, 1883 Prof Parker shall pay
annually to Mr Ward interest at 6% per annum on so much of the &3000. as is not received in payments from time to time.
5th. Until the whole sum of $3000. has been
paid by Prof. Parker he shall at his own expense keep the collection insured against fire in the Mr. Ward's name and for his interest to the amount of the
balance still owing to him.
