part of the money at your disposal, in that city, on your return. Of Mexican pottery I have a plenteous as- sortment, so want nothing more unless it be something particularly handsome and ancient. What I would like is an Aztec (human) head covered with mosaic (of and mother of pearl) and with eyes of metal. [drawing] they are rather scarce. Further, [drawing continued] of South America, west Brazil - a head of the Paranos (?) Indians as per drawing (in margin). The bones of the head are removed. the skin dried, the hair is long and there is an ornament proceeding from the mouth containing white stones at the ex- tremity. Yucatan is a region particularly rich in antiquities. Besides Architectural pieces I will gladly take exhumed human remains, implements etc. Also, if obtainable, ethno- graphic specimens of such Indian tribes as are still in the savage state, In general, I have very little ethnographic material of the present Indians: Fishing and Hunting-gear, Shoes, Pipes, Paintings, Scalps, Rugs, Weapons (not firearms), Tomahawks etc. N.B. Boards for transport of papooses and deformed skulls.
