will probably be about $175. Respectfully yours, Arthur B. Baker. Ward's Natural Science Establishment N0. 2 College Avenue, (opposite University) Rochester N. Y. Sept. 9 1881
Nov. 21
Dear Prof. Ward,
Today's mail brings bill of lading
for 5 cases ^from Moller^ also Tice & Lynch's bill for 12 cases per Bark Thumes from New Zealand. Bill is as follows.- Freight 141-c ft /in@60(per ton of 400 ft. $51.21 Fees .60 Cartages 4.--- Charges paid to A. H. Shipley 86.--- Clearing and forwarding 4.---
______ $145.81
We shall ask Tice & Lynch for an itemized bill of Shipley's charges if they have one, for $86. (more than 1/2 the entire bill) seems rather large for freight in N. Z. and insurance.
Prof. Baird writes that they will be ready
for the whale in a month or two and wishes to know whether we can send it then. Mr. Lucas says yes and we write him accordingly.
Mr. Lucas returned last night, as did also Stuebner
DeKempeneer and Joe. Mr. Lucas says he has nothing to write - Mr. Howell ditto.
Robert keeps very busy - works over time some-
what - and has much work ahead, so that chances [another hand vertically in the left margin- </u Baker > Sept.'81 }
