that Prof. Agasiz “prefers not to take it (Budorcas) at present, in view of the large expenditures still pending to complete our collections, deeming it advisable to use the money in a way to cover more ground.” Have written Hume that you will decide about Budorcas. L.F. Ward is still away, but is expected to re- turn Saturday. He wrote Corning some time ago asking payment of his acct. but have heard nothing from him. L.F.W. thought it best to write. Whether he will think it best to draw on him yet I will find out when he returns. Business is rather dull. I hope it may soon brighten up and orders come in. Mr. Howell seems to think the prospects are good in Cincinnati and I trust that a sale will be made there. Inver- tebrates there amount to a little over $400 - in- cluding set of Diagrams. We made out as full a series of Invertebrates as we could without injuring the stock, i.e., we took only duplicates. Charles is still painting casts and doing well - has bettered his account nearly $10 since I last wrote you about it. Will write you again tomorrow if anything farther comes up.
Respectfully yours Arthur B. Baker. Copy of this goes to Singapore,
