of the death of Otto Moller on Aug. 1st. The business will be continued under the same firm name for the benefit of his wife and children.

Mr. Howell has not yet returned from Cinbe

but we expect him every day. All is going along well. Hornaday is mounting young Elephant for M. C. Z., Webster a[6] Mt. Goat for Bierstadt, William the [] Goat and Wood is on M. C. Z. birds. Bailly is back at skeletons again - is mounting a Giant Armadillo. Prof. D. C. Taft of Champaign, Ill, or- dered. this under the supposition, it seems. that the price was $22. but finding it to be $65. he has countermanded the order.

Charles is painting still, has been working

quite regularly for the past 10 days. He is having some trouble most of the time from the syphilis, but otherwise his health seems to be good. He is beginning to hear from his creditors, - some one being up here to see him nearly every week. Hope he gets rid of them I don't know, but he seems to do it.

Mr. Preston is working on eggs, crabs and Inver-

tebrates generally. He is a good, steady man; his chief fault being a sort of carelessness. He is a pleasant person and seems to be liked by every one except Charles.

We have been hoping to receive more letters

from you for publication. Those which were in the Democrat have been copied extensively, extracts from them appearing in several of the New York papers.

   Respectfully yours,
  Arthur B. Baker
