Dear Prof. Ward,

 Yours of July 12 was rec'd

yesterday forwarded from Rochester, I at once wrote Mr. Lucas and L. F. Ward giving your address & c, and asked L. F. W. to write you in regard to amount of money received per month as compared with the estimates made. I do not remember having seen the estimate. L. F. W. has doubtless talked the matter over with Mr. Howell, but I have heard nothing of it. The only complaint made, so far as I am aware, has been about Hooper and Scott. The former has paid, - principal and interest. Mr. Howell wrote Scott about three weeks ago in regard too re- mittance on his account. The answer came to Mr. H. at Cincinnati and reached me at R. on the 13th just as I was starting for here, - it was at once sent to L. F. W. Scott says that we consider just: that he will pay this interest at once, and that he will give his note for the balance (between $1,400. and $1,500.), </u but > he does not say for how long time the note is to be drawn. His plans, he writes for a large Zoological mu- seum at Princeton are progressing favorably, and if he succeeds a large portion of the work to be done will come to you. L. F.
