painter who lives near here to grain the large pedestals. The Walrus skin has been cleaned at tanners and will be brought up tomorrow. Hornaday is at present mounting a small deer for M.C.Z. Mr. Lucas has no news and will not write this week.

    Charley's eyes is progressing favorably and

the Dr. thinks he may use it next week if he will be careful.

    Mr. Howell writes that he has finished at

Chautauqua and is on the way to Cincinnati.

    The second box of N.Z. specimens has not

yet </s been > arrived, but ought to reach here soon, as it was shipped (overland) from Frisco June 23rd.

    Enclosed is a notice of Elephant which I would

have sent you before, had I seen it. We have of course, secured a number of the Democrats containing your letters.
