Dear Prof. Ward,
I mail to you with this
two unmounted photos of the Elephant and one mounted. The spots where the epidermis peeled off show much more plainly in the photo than they did on the animal himself. The photographer should have finished the negative and worked the spots out . I shall see him tomorrow and endeavor to have this done. We will have 8 or 10 printed like each of the unmounted and 3 or 4 like the mt'd.
Work at shops is going along about as
usual. Mr Lucas is packing M.C.Z. specimens, which will be shipped Saturday. We have our hards about full getting Coll. and Acad, Series ready for Cala: Mr. Poppert is away, and Chas, on whom we had counted is unable to paint. Mr, Preston (under Mr. Lucas' tuition) has painted the two Glyptodons and he and Gueret have painted large pedestals, varnished frames of slabs &c., while I have been painting casts, bronzing busts &e as much as I could without inter- fering with other work.
