other box than Hume's which would be like to come in this way, we made out the application on that basis. Hume's birds were valued at £11-19, but the appraiser has returned report that value exceeds $100.-. We thought best to follow the same line on which we began, and have sent Morris a copy of list which Hume sent and asked him to notify us at once if this did not suffice. Have not yet heard from him again.
Have written Dr. Lathrop twice, but have not heard nothing. Have had no reply to your letter to Blashka and we are considering the advisability of writing him. No word yet from Mrs. Lambert, and none from J. H. Gridley the Prairie Dog man. Shall write both soon.
Dr. Velie's wife has been sick so that he has been unable to do any collecting. He referred another collector to us and we have written the latter about Alligators etc.
I saw Dr. Dolly (son of Mrs. D, M.D) yesterday who told me that Dr. Leidy expects to spend his summer vacation in Rochester.
Work at shops is going along as well as usual. Elephant is drying
