Prof. A. J. Cook of Lansing, Mich. writes that they have $1,000. to spend in purchasing Natl. Hist. material during '81 and '82 ans sends list of skeletons amounting to $350. asking our lowest terms. As prices on some (as Ostrich) had advanced since he wrote before, we offered in addition to 5% discount, free boxing. Have not yet had reply from him.

Blaschka writes Apr 4 that he has rec'd the 100 M. (from Tryon's models) and that he cannot sen the large lot of models till about July 1st owing to the sickness of his son.

Rammé drew on you for 896 M. which has been paid. Montaudan writes that the Auzoux models will be sent early in May. They amount, loss discount, to 1088 Fes. which will soon be paid.

Charles is at present painting casts. I arouse him at 5.30 A. M. and he commences painting at 6. He spends most of the evening at home. and is endeavoring to save money to pay for a $40.- suit of clothes which he purchased a short time ago. I am trying to mount skeletons a little- take two French lessons a week, which, with preparation for them, keep me fairly busy. No more new now. Will perhaps write again tomorrow.
