Prof H. A. Ward Dear Sir
I received yours of the 15th inst
was received several days ago & I delayed answering untill I could see the Fishermen - They tell me that if the river goes down & remains clear that they can furnish me all the Mud Puppies > I want. but if the River remains high or there are frequent showers to keep the River muddy they may not catch many. At present the River is high, but falling a little & the indications are that the Season will be favorable, & I will try to get what you wish - How many & what do you want? - I send you bill for last season work, - as I did not get nearly what </s I > you wanted. I have only charged you what I actually paid for the Mud -puppies & c & Expence
Your first letter no doubt was lost in remailing
as I have been in Cincinnati all winter & only return- ed last week.
The man I wrote to you about who was about
to commence digging at Big Bone, / Ey, last Spring
