My studies at the. university have been
mainly in the course laid down for Nat. Hist. students and include Chemistry Free Hand Drawing, Physiology, Botany, Zoology, Entomology, Geology, Mineralogy, Osteology, Physics, Microscopy and others not bearing so much on Nat. Hist. I have had some practice in drawing and painting in oil from specimens taken from the museum. Before Mr. Wild went to your establish- ment, he taught me the "Ball Method" of mounting birds which I practiced while he was with you and on his return I learned the "Soft method". Most of the birds I have mounted were put up from fresh skins. Last year a Chicago dealer used to send specimens to me in the flesh which I mounted and re- turned by express. Under Mr. Wild's
