I have tried to make the collections just such as one as I would wish to study were I once more a college student, or to teach from were I a professor of natural history. You will also notice that the species I offer you are chiefly foreign, and I beg to assure you that this feature is quite intentional. You will have good opportunities in the future to make collections to illustrate our home fauna, but very few to secure good specimens of important foreign species without great expense. I think I may say without boasting, however, that this collector offers a very fair representation of the two most important classes of vertebrates as found all over the world.
