that you sent me a list of specimens you "had on hand of those marked (f) in new Amer. Mus. bird list" Oct. 3, '85. Of these five remain to be sent by you, the other having been forwarded in your last shipment.

    It was  ^not^ my intention by marking 'f" against the

names to cut you off from furnishing these species, so far as you had them, as I wrote you or told you at the time the new list was made up. I Tok the responsibility of getting them because I thought I could do it rapidly. But I have been so driven till now that I have paid no attention to looking up the common things, but have looked out for many of the rarer ones, and with good success. It proves necessary however, to keep after my correspondents to get them to keep their promises, & shall now take this part of the business vigor- ously in hand.
