How I wish I was with you this day! (Last week Tuesday the Ther. was 24 degrees below zero.) Now I want you write me all about Egypt & Syria with special reference to the Climate, whether you think I could stand it. I am better for traveling than I was in </u 1853 >. I have got the fit of traveling on, and I want to, you I </u mean to > - see something of the sights you are. I would like really to hear your experience as guide. Do give me some. But want of means I am afraid will frustrate all my efforts. Had I the power I would sail over the "Big Pond" next fall. I would borrow the money if I could; but I have not the friends wh. you, lucky fellow, have. I desire earnestly to travel in Europe while you are there; & I wish to study some time in Paris & Gottingen. please Ward give </u particular > information in regard to </u Expenses > in both places. My wish is to connect Science with </uTheology.> Where would you advise me to study? Give my regards to "Charlie"; I have heard so much about him I feel acquainted with him.. Don't forget to drop me a line soon. & that a kind Providence may watch over & preserve you, is the earnest wish of your true friend James Orton H. A. Ward Esq [ybg]
