Paris, April 24th./56 My dear Orton,
I cried over your letter
of March 12th. & I feel much like doing the same over the one which is before me, although with much different feelings. I can not con- sider your success in the thing which we have so much desired as being in answer to my frequent prayers, but I hail it none the less as </u an > answer, & am satisfied.
Had I not heard from you, my letter
this week would have assured you of my willingness to give you a letter to him.
