the lectures commence, giving them a lesson in English every other day. My idea in this is, that in explaining our grammar, in translating to them a small volume of British facts which they read, & in giving them (catholicks) a few notions of protestantism. I take myself an excellent lesson in French. But I fear my letter is becoming tedious. I recd. yours of May 17th on my return here. You do not know, dear Aunt, how much it pleased me. I thank you most heartily for your kind wishes & congratulations , My thoughts are often with my dear relations at the "Grove", and it is so pleasant to feel that someone there is remembering me. I am so sorry not to have written to Aunt Smith and my grandparents before, but I hope to soon. You mention having heard from Father. Why does he not write me? I heard from him last at Cairo, & have written him twice since. I want to ask you Aunt to step across & see Mother occasionally, if you have time. I very much fear she will get lonely with us all away. You mention a 2d. letter previous to your last. I am very sorry that I never received it, but still have hopes, as I have some still waiting for me in Italy which will be sent up. But I must close. Please Aunt write me again soon. F Sending much love to Uncle, cousin Henry & </u all > I remain Your affect. Nephew Henry A. Ward
