Washington & Lee University Lexington, Va. 15 March, 1876 about a week - possibly longer; but letters addressed to me, as heretofore will receive prompt attention during my absence.

    The Brackets reached us about

two days ago. I am told that some few of them are longer than what is called for in your Specifications; but that there are a sufficient number of the proper dimensions. Will key you know of any trouble about them.

    All the boxes that will be

wanted, for some time to come, have been brought up from the river, And to-morrow your assistants will go regularly to work in the Geological Hall - so Mr Howell informs me. Very truly Yrs. G. W. C. Lee
