             Sterling Montana, Oct.18th 1876.

Dear Professor.

  Your letters of Sept. 15th Oct. 2nd &

Oct. 6th all reached me safely - The first containing P. O. orders for $200.00 balancing our old a/c: The second orders for $150.00 & the last for $71.00 leaving the balance, on this last lot of specimens $150.00 as you state in your N.Y. letter. The boxes - 4. in number - were taken to Virginia City sometime since, but were not loaded until the 14th of this month for convenience - Have Just received the bill of lading, which I will forward to Mr. Lucas, together with letter from C.C. Hansel Omaha, in whose care I ship this season, & who will see that the RRs do not charge more than, the agreed rates. I think they will reach Rochester, about the last of November. Will write Mr Lucas full. & acknowledge, the receipt of monies, from you.
