       I thank you for your 

very kind response to my inqui- ries about mounted skeletons, minerals etc. The explanation about losing my letter is amply sufficient - I have seen some specimens of your preparations at the School of Mines N. Y. - where I graduated, with which I was much pleased. I had hoped to send to you for some minerals but I suppose that now arrangements are completed for a supply from another source. Our cabinet how- ever is woefully destitute of the things which you could furnish - casts and mounted vertebrates. Nothing would please me better than
