I completed the Elk a few weeks ago and it is a noble speci- men of the deer family. Your skeletons are uncommonly well mounted, but with all becoming modesty, I think I can do work quite as well. I learn't the business at the garden of Plants, but the work there is done in a very careless ans slovenly manner. I hope that you are making preparations for a large display at Philadel- phia, for the mechanical work of skeleton mounting has been very much improved upon in Aamerica. Truly Your's G.E. Manigault
