Dear Professor.

       I received your favor

of the 18th this morning, and this after- noon one of the kegs with the black vermin" was delivered to me by express. I will forward it tomorrow, and hope that its reception will allay your annieteis on the subject. I think that you will find it to contain some of both as it comes from the river on which alone the amphiumas have been so far obtained. Another collector on the Edislo fiver has notified me that he had already seen 70 sirens, and there is still a third to hear from. So that you can consider me one of your faithful agents, and I want you in return to do
