Washington and Lee University LEXINGTON, VA. 8 Dec., 1875. it will be (nearly) when the present partition walls, and floor of the second story, are taken away. The openings of the lower story only are shown on the sketch, but there are corresponding openings in the second story in windows in the upper over windows and doors in the lower. You will notice that the front door is 7 ft. wide in the brick wall, but only about 4' 6" actually in the clear. Shall the door be 4 1/2 ft. as at present, or shall it be made 7 ft. wide by removing the semi-circular transom light, and side lights ?

you wished all the openings in the rear wall - upper and lower story - bricked up. Did I under- stand you aright, or shall we
