today to announce an addition by Mr. - to the gift to the University of Virginia of a large Cabinet of Nat. Science of which we spoke at length when we met Lynchburg on the 22nd inst. This additional gift is no less than a building in which to place the Cabinets, provided that such building can be erected for a sum not exceeding </u Fifteen Thousand dollars >. If you are ready to meet these two latter sums as they are required, - say along during the 10th to the 16th months from now, Mr. - will at once consumate his gift. At his request I write you at once on the subject; requesting you to present this proposition to the new board of visitors of the University as soon as they are appointed, and ask from them an official expression
