Univ. Va. 12 Apr 1876 My dear Prof Ward,

    I telegraphed you last

night, that the Miller Board do all we asked unanimously, though for they are bound by their charter to use only the interest of the $100000 & a part of that is now unavailable) the act will considerably hamper their other appropriations. They did it Cordially & promptly. They, we believe, enabled us to command $10000 loan in the market & the balance of $2000 will be forthcoming in ten months from the Alumni.

    Our friends here fear that some hitch
