fact that I have spoken so much of my own. Why cant you find me a No. of the Scientific American? I can not get an Agent here to overlook his files unless I will give him the date, & even then it it would be doubtfull about finding it. I want to ascertain whether New ? land contains enough of interest to pay for a visit on my way home. I am very sorry, but I have never received the Baccolauereat. If the post master saw anything enclosed in it he is you know, at liberty to keep the whole. I would give you some news of Paris if I had time. There are at least 100 courses of interesting lectures in progress at the moment. I enclose a programme of which I happen to have at hand, of those of a single college near here. I have lately received notice (accompanied with a diploma) of my election as "Membre de la Societe Geolo? de France," which holds its meetings at Paris. I am glad of this for it brings me in connection with many noted Geologists, & besides hearing their discussions, I have the publications of the Society for life. Please write me soon Orton, & believe yours truly. Henry A. Ward James Orton Esq Lisle Broome Co. N. Y.
