You can hardly be more disapointed about this point than I am. I have so long cherished the idea, that it is hard at present to give it up. And it really seems as if some way would still open itself for the accomplishment of your visiting Europe which seems so desirable. But letters remember, dear Orton, thatHe odereth all things well, and I know that the same faith which has taught you to seek blessings from Him will teach you submission when they seem to be withheld. I shall not relax my efforts in the least Orton, although the direction in which to exert them seems at present hidden. Should I at any time have an opportunity (or rather be in a position) to aid you with Mr. W. I shall not fail to do ^so^. Should you see him or write him (Address to Geneseo & it will be forwarded. I do not know his address at N. B.) tell him that you have heard that his son is making a collection of minerals & that if he will give you a loan you will collect for him in all parts of Europe where you may be, to pay the interest.But I must close, as my time is very limited to day.
