I am paying most of my men $2.00 per day ? five have worked for .30cents per hour and some for .20. I am keeping the expense down as low as possible and hope that the $25 you send me to Southampton will be plenty - When I saw this carcass at Armagansett and had seen the one at Southampton I made up my mind that I could get a good skeleton from both, and perhaps by working in some of the smaller bones from the others make it entire. The entire work has been very hard and I have had to go right into the carcass myself, in order to get much done, the men are working well and I hope to send you soon a good specimen. It was very kind in you to offer to ship me your gun for I think that I could get quire a number of specimens
