[page 2] very injurious to her. It is quite difficult to show her much attention without injuring her.

       I have been running the financial part of the

housekeeping. The grocery and butcher bills of last month were unpaid. I have as yet been able to pay only the grocer's bill, but hope to have these things all ship shape in two or three weeks. The girl, Annie, will have to go I think. She is wholly incapable - or else too lazy - to do the work. Everything being ? hand. Looks much as though she was going to have a child in about four months.

       Alice is with Mrs. Dolly at the Lake. It seems

best to keep her away from Mother, as she greatly worries her.

       Academy commences the 4 prox. I am going to

loaf around the Bay and Lake part of the time between now and then.

       Work arround buildings and ^on^ Bulletin Notice

is progressing finely.
