       In debates in classroom at Academy, when the

opposition scores a point, the scholars look at my expecting me to answer it. So much of the popularity question - I suppose from appearances I must be fairly popular. Still it don't take much to impress a number of such scholars with an idea that one knows something.

       In the Composition and Elocution class, we are, just at

present, participating in both written and oral debates. I try and do my share of the talking: perhaps a little more than my share - but that is the fault of the others not mine. If they wish to talk they should be quick to embrace their opportunities.

       I read an essay before our Literary Soc. a few days ago; but

have not been able to debate as my office has excluded me from that privilage. But this will soon be changed as election comes on the 24 inst. This society is doing very well and I hope to get some excellent practice in it.

       All are well at home. I keep on the look out for all

things coming under my office as overseer of builds.

       Frank is a little lame, but nothing serious. Am afraid

he will never be entirely free from lameness.
