    You.r note of the 21st is at

hand. It is my present intention to leave here next Friday at 2 P.M. and reach Rochester on Saturday morning, the 30th inst. If anything occurs to delay me beyond that time I will promptly inform you either by letter or telegraph. I have almost made up my mind to stop off at Ann Arbor for a day to see Prof. Steere's Oriental collection, made on an expedition sim- ilar to ours extending over two years or more. I am told he has been trying to sell it to the State of Michigan for the Ann Arbor University, so far without success. His price is $20,000! I have an idea that we might find it to
