</u Baker > Syracuse, Apl 24, 1883. Dear Prof. Ward,
Your letter of the 23rd
was received this P.M. Enclosed are the egg letters. I have made a few changes in Purdy's order and have noted on Allen's list what are wanted I will indicate on MSS. of catalogue what eggs are ordered from various parties and yet to be received, so that the catalogue may be correct.
I am in hopes to find in
the West some collectors who are not so largely </u dealers >, and who can be relied upon for eggs at lower rates. Toward the Mexican boundary is the best region for desirable species; but whether I get down there is, to say the least doubtful.
I shall go down to Ithaca tomorrow
