Dear Prof. Ward,
I was glad to get your
card of the 20th and one from Henry, as I had much feared that he was in for a serious illness.
I have already written you
that I cannot go to Corning's; so it will be unnecessary, I presume for me to write him. Mr, Preston can do what C. wants fully as well as I.
Enclosed is a card from S. Howland
of Newport which I don't understand. Will you please write him why, the eyes were returned? The eggs which he sent were species of which you had very few eggs on hand and no complete sets. Howland is a very well known
