I received yesterday a line from
Mr Gilbert saying that Maj, Powell's illness had so delayed matters in the Survey that he (G.) had been unable to make any plans, and did not know how soon he could. This was in reply to a note of inquiry from me. It now seems best for me to await his decision in the West, and I shall go on soon - I hope within two weeks. Work on the Survey will not begin before June or July.
