large Museum cases go, for the present. Nothing more that I can recollect now. Resp. yours Arthur B. Baker.
[beginning of the letter] Dear Prof. Ward,
We received a few days ago a letter from Gilbert Clements enclosing yours to him from Honolulu. He telegraphed us as soon as he could get any word of the "Sidney's" arrival at Melbourne, which was Apr. 1.
All is going along about as usual; nothing of importance has happened since I last wrote you. M. C. Z bill amounts to $1,047. Gaur Ox was put in at $240.- and Chimpanzee $200., ♀ - $175.- Th skin has been put on the Elephant and his fore and hind legs stuffed. The Elephant skeleton will be offered to Scott - probably for $300.- "to boot". M. C. Z. has no Elephant skeleton, and if Scott does not take it they ought to secure it for it is certainly an unique specimen.
