Transcribe Baker, A. B. Letter to Ward, Henry A. (1881-03-21)

Dear Prof. Ward,

Enclosed are letters which were sent to you via San Francisco and were returned from there for postage. We (Mr. Howell and myself) looked up the matter of postage together and succeeded in getting the wrong rate. Letters go to the greater part of Australia for 5¢ per half ounce, while those to Victoria require 12¢.

These letters came late this afternoon so that there is not time to write more now. We shall probably send a letter tomorrow

I do not know that there is any possible apology for this blunder, and can only say that I am extremely sorry it has been made.
