no. 2 College Av Rochester , New Yrok Dec. 5th 1874
J. E. Labrie Esqr
Dear Sir
I have recd your letter of 2nd inst
and am somewhat surprised at its contents. On June
2nd/69 I forwarded you a note for $36.00 dated Nov 6
1868 and bearing 10 pct int. from date signed by
J. H. Walker payable to Peter Lanback and assigned
by him to you for collection. Inyour letter of June 15/69 you say, "I received your note requesting
me to collect it I will give my prompt attentions to
it." On Dec 16/73 you wrote, "I collected yesterday
a P.O.O. the constable says he believes it is all he
can collect this year." The above will I beleive fully
enlighten you as to the claim, and as a year is past
since the payment of $20.00, I trust the balance has
been paid and will be forwarded immediately. You
will perceive that the balance, with the interest
is nearly $40.00.
Very Yours respectfully,
H. M. Ward
