    It is very desirable-

ble to have the order given you for North American Mammals and Birds filled at an early date.On referring to the lists of desiderata I find that considerably more than half of ^the mammals^ (55 species out of 90) remain still to be furnished, and that only 76 species of birds have been received out of a total of 209.
