ybg </u 29..861 cases > Washington, April 10, 1873. My Dear Professor Ward.
Your letter of the 7th is
at hand. I had already noticed the paragraph in The Am. Naturalist. It is not a matter of the Slight- est. consequence, as we all hoped you might be able to secure the Contract; and it was not your fault that you did not. but that's of the per- sons who maliciously underbid you!
I am obliged to you in regard to the memoran-
dum as to drawing, which shall be duly attend- ed to. You need not give yourself any particular trouble to alter the paragraph ^in question^ as it is not nec - essary for you to make the offer to construct the cases, for the purpose of getting out of a sup- posed dilemma, since this in reality does not exist. If, however, you desire to make one set of the cases, on those terms, please let me know. Very truly yours, Spencer Baird. Prof. H. A. Ward Rochester N. Y.
