ybg Ship Loth's Wansu St John N B Wed June 12 th 1872 Prof Henry A Ward Rochester N Y Dear Sir

    Your very kind letter

of May 22d was duly received by me and should have been answered long ago but my time has been very much occupied and I wished also to see Fred first, and even now I suppose he can tell you far more than I can write; I thank you sincerely for the great friendship you have extended to my son, and if quite agreeable to you would like to have him secure in with you, and be guided by your own wise counsel; I quite agree with you regarding the attainment of more general knowledge the first time for a future calling, and Mrs Lucas and my self have long since arrived to the same but since that he could not be placed in better hands than he is; We only hope that he may fully meet your expectations;
