My dear Sir:
I have just posted a letter to your President, making a formal offer of the collection and sent along with it a MSS. list.
Since I offered the collection to the I.A.C, now nearly a year ago, I have made a few exchanges with Prof. Ward for species that were to me more desirable than those I gave. This is of no consequence to you, but I mention it in order that you may understand why the present list is not exactly identical with the list printed in the Aurora.
I have made one important addition to the list--an Indian Elephant--which brings the total cost of mounting above what it was without it. While I have not this specimen actually in my possession, I have a promise which
