Dear Prof Ward,

    This is what I propose to do;

seize the guns on a search warrant and give bonds to Wheeler. Consequently I will send Henry a power of Attorney as he knows my property, and he can apply to the Chief of Police. I will write and ask Mr. Siddons if he will be a bondsman for me - providing more than my own bond is necessary - and if he fails will try someone else. I do not wish to be out any more than I can help, but should a lawyer be positively necessary I think I would as lief have young Joseph Hunt as anyone. He used to have an office in the Elwood Block but the directory will tell his whereabouts. Will write in a day or so. Very truly yours Fred A. Lucas
