nwh Cambridge, Mass. July 2, 1887. Dear Prof. Ward: -
The shipment of specimens safely
to hand, & unpacked today. I return a few small specimens on account of quality, being either badly mounted or mounted from poor skins - I also return the Kangaroo, the order for which was canceled, as my memoranda show, in March, 1883. It was included by accident, we having already had one example from you of the same species. I also return the Black Vulture (Calthaite atiatus), which is a duplicate, the order having been long since filled. The Corvus caurius is a finely mounted bird, but is not the true courinus which is a bird of the N. W. coast. The long decurved tip to the bill is due to malformation. The Meadow Lark is in immature plumage & has a defective tail. Very ty yours J. A. Allen
