nwh Banner, Kansas, Sept. 16/83. Dear Prof. Ward,

I have made list of species of N. A.

birds wanted for M. C. Z. skeleton order, and have taken the liberty to write Mr. Hardy in regard to them. The letter is enclosed. He ought to be able to ^furnish^ a number of the varieties, and of the remain der a considerable part could probably be obtained by C. A. Allen. Carl Purdy, or some other Californian There is no reason why nearly all the lacking species should not be had within a few months, as they are common forms. Mr. Hardy would probably take exchange, and can express the larger birds fresh at little expense. Respectfully yours Arthur B. Baker.
